Stainless Steel 321/321H is known for its great ductility, malleability, wettability, and formability. These are resistive to various resisting agents that are encountered in various industrial sectors.

Stainless Steel 321/321H is a stabilized austenitic stainless steel similar to its standard type. However, it has a small amount of titanium at least five times the carbon content. Due to this addition grade gain resistivity to carbide precipitation during welding in a temperature range between 800 deg F to 1500 deg F. Moreover, this composition also improves elevated temperature properties. Alloy 321 provides excellent resistance to corrosion and attain good creep strength. Primarily, it is used in the applications including intermittent and continuous service temperatures within the mentioned carbide precipitation range.

Alloy 321 stainless steel seamless pipes have similar corrosion behavior to type austenitic grades with the immunity of improved intergranular corrosion resistance due to the addition of titanium for higher stability. These pipes have excellent resistance properties against organic and inorganic compounds. These can be used in the long term exposure in higher temperatures between 900- 1500 deg F. This may reduce the overall general corrosion resistance, but remains prominent compared to unstabilized grades.

Stainless Steel 321/321H Seamless Pipes can be readily formed and drawn. however, for drawing these pipes higher pressures are required and more springback is stump than for carbon and ferritic stainless steel grades. Alloy 321 work hardens rapidly and may require annealing after severe forming same as other austenitic stainless steels. The presence of certain resisting elements can make alloy 321/321H more difficult to form than other austenitic grades. It is from the family of an austenitic class of stainless steels, generally, recommended to be weldable by the common fusion and resistance methods.

In order to prevent weld hot cracking special consideration is required by assuring formation of ferrite in the weld deposit. Particularly, when it comes to the weldability this grade is preferred. The major difference of this grade is the addition of titanium that makes it an utmost option for engineering applications. This grade is not treatable by the heat treatment process. The annealing process is done in temp between 1750 deg F to 2050 deg F, then it is processed for quenching and annealing process.

The processing of seamless pipes is incomplete until it is being checked under the global standard parameters, to ensure only superior quality products reach to the customer's end. These tests are corrosion compatibility test, PMI test, radiography, intergranular corrosion test, hardness test, mechanical test, tensile test, and ultrasonic test.
